World Communications Day is celebrated each year on the Sunday before Pentecost. This year, World Communications Day fell on June 1, 2025. St. Pope Paul VI established World Communications Day in 1967. One of the underlying purposes of this event is to find the best way, using today’s technology, to promote truth, hope, joy, human life, and dignity.
When Pope Leo XIV meet with media professionals on May 12, 2025 he stated: “Today, one of the most important challenges is to promote communication that can bring us out of the ‘Tower of Babel’” in which we sometimes find ourselves, out of the confusion of loveless languages that are often ideological or partisan. Therefore, your service, with the words you use and the style you adopt, is crucial.
