USCCB Action Alert: Tell Them to Stop Selling the Abortion Pill

September 18, 2026

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is asking citizens to contact pharmacies and distributors to urge them to stop selling the abortion pill.

Stores like CVS and Walgreens, along with some distributors and online pharmacies, are profiting from the sale of the drug, mifepristone, for abortion. These pills have been ending preborn lives for too long, but only in the last few years have they been sold at neighborhood and online pharmacies. Now they are the way most abortions are performed.

As consumers, we can try to influence the actions of these businesses. Change is possible – so far, several grocery stores and “big box” stores with pharmacies in them, as well as many other online pharmacies, have chosen to not get into the business of abortion. Take action here to tell major companies to stop the sale of mifepristone for abortion and put the welfare of women and children first.

The call comes as Missourians prepare to vote on Amendment 3 this fall, which would limit most abortions, ensure parental consent and notification for a minor to have an abortion, ban transgender procedures for minors, reinstate health and safety standards for abortion clinics, and protect Missourians’ ability to sue physicians or facilities for malpractice. The Missouri Bishops are supporting Amendment 3 and asking “the faithful and all people of good will” to join them in prayer, fasting, and advocating for its passage to roll back the harmful changes brought about by the 2024 measure and move toward greater protection for life, women, and children.
