The Senate Health and Welfare Committee on Wednesday heard testimony on SB 810, sponsored by Sen. Nick Schroer (R-O’Fallon). SB 810 would prohibit any abortion facility or its affiliates from receiving public funds. Federal and state law currently prohibit public funds from being used for abortion. Schroer’s bill would expand that prohibition by denying an abortion provider Medicaid reimbursement for non-abortion health care services.
The MCC testified in support of SB 810. If the bill is voted out of committee, it will go to the full Senate for debate.
