MO SNAP Benefits Restored after Record Government Shutdown

November 14, 2025

The Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS) announced that all Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants in Missouri will receive full benefits for November. The announcement comes after President Donald Trump signed a bill to end the federal government shutdown on Wednesday, ending the longest government shutdown in American history.

The full restoration of SNAP benefits comes at a vital time, when many families on government assistance had concerns that they would go hungry during the Thanksgiving holiday season. The DSS said it is now taking immediate steps to help Missouri families, including the continued distribution of partial SNAP benefits until the system updates. Participants do not need to take any action to receive the benefits, according to the department.

“With federal funding back in place, our team is moving swiftly to issue full November benefits,” DSS Director Jess Bax said. “We know how important this assistance is to Missouri households, especially after the uncertainty of recent weeks, and we thank the public for being patient with us as we navigated communicating effectively.”
