Missouri Bishops Issue Statement on Pro-Life Amendment 3

March 27, 2026

The Missouri Bishops have issued a statement on the pro-life Amendment 3 through the Missouri Catholic Conference. The Bishops stated, “The Catholic Bishops of Missouri are committed to protecting the sanctity and dignity of all human life, including the poor and needy, refugees and immigrants, prisoners on death row, and mothers and children.

The statement pointed out that “the pro-abortion amendment passed in 2024 … enshrined a sweeping right to abortion in the State Constitution and eliminated the legislature’s ability to set common-sense safeguards for the abortion industry, including the requirement that only doctors perform abortions…”

The Bishops have implemented a prayer campaign asking the faithful to pray for the passage of Amendment 3. The 25th of the month has been designated as a day of fasting and prayer for the passage of Amendment 3 so that Missouri will be a state that supports human life from conception until natural death.
