Each year, many Missourians suffer from heat-related illnesses, with some cases resulting in death. During prolonged periods of high temperatures, using air conditioning – either at home or by seeking shelter in a local cooling center – is the best preventive measure.

Other tips for keeping cool are to stay out of the sun between 11 am-2 pm, drink plenty of water, dress in loose-fitting clothes, use cold washcloths, eat cold foods, avoid alcohol, and if indoors, block out the sun by using curtains or shades. Click here for more tips and information.
