On Thursday, Governor Mike Kehoe signed six bills into law, including a priority bill of the MCC.
Among the bills signed into law was HB 1839, which enacts age verification requirements for online pornography websites. The law now requires internet pornography companies to verify the age of anyone attempting to access their content, bars minor users from accessing the websites, and requires the websites not to store any of the identification information of adult users, including a monetary fine for violations of these restrictions.
“The legislation I signed today strengthens the laws that protect our families, supports the men and women who serve our country and communities, and gives our state stronger tools to keep dangerous criminals off our streets,” said Governor Kehoe. “Public safety will always be this administration’s top priority.”
