On August 15, 2026, the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau will celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the founding of its diocese (Aug. 24, 1956) during the first-ever Diocesan Eucharistic Congress to be held at the West Plains Civic Center. The day will feature a celebration of the Holy Mass; several national speakers, including author and theologian Dr. Scott Hahn and award-winning chef, radio & TV host Fr. Leo Patalinghug of “Plating Grace”; several breakout sessions; an exhibit hall featuring Catholic organizations and religious communities; and a children’s and teen track.
