Pro-life advocates in Colorado are gathering to remember 18-year-old Lexi Arguello who died last year during a second-trimester surgical abortion at Planned Parenthood in Fort Collins, Colorado, after she developed a severe complication and the clinic delayed calling 911.
The three-day campaign “Justice for Lexi” started yesterday and will continue until Saturday (Aug 27-29) to draw attention to the teenager’s tragic death and to call for better safety regulations. Today, a press conference and a prayer rally are scheduled to take place in front of the Planned Parenthood clinic in Fort Collins, with several pro-life figures participating, including Auxiliary Bishop Jorge Rodríguez-Novelo of the Archdiocese of Denver.
According to the watchdog group Operation Rescue, nearly 20 women have been injured at Planned Parenthood clinics in the Denver metro area since Lexi’s tragic death. Like Missouri, Colorado no longer requires abortion clinics to be licensed or inspected and allows abortions through all 40 weeks of pregnancy. The most recent data, from 2023, shows that there were also 14,700 abortions in Colorado, with 137 of those occurring in the third trimester (also known as late-term abortions).
