Solemnity of Corpus Christi

May 31, 2024

We celebrate this week the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, also known as the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. This feast honors Jesus Christ, really, truly, and substantially present under the appearances of bread and wine. As Pope Francis has said: “Every year the feast of Corpus Christi invites us to renew the wonder and joy for this wonderful gift of the Lord, which is the Eucharist”.

The traditional date for Corpus Christi is the Thursday after Trinity Sunday, although most ecclesiastical provinces in the United States celebrate it on the following Sunday, so that more people can attend.
