Missouri Schedules Second Execution of 2024

March 18, 2024

On February 14th, the Missouri Supreme Court ordered the execution of David Hosier to occur at 6 pm on June 11th, 2024. Hosier was convicted in 2013 of the Sept. 28, 2009, murder of Angela Gilpin, 45, at her Jefferson City apartment. Hosier was originally also charged with the murder of Angela’s husband, Rodney Gilpin, but the charge was dropped after he was convicted of Angela’s murder.

The Supreme Court of Missouri affirmed the judgment in 2015 and has since overruled and affirmed his motions for rehearing and postconviction relief. Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court denied Hosier’s motion for a review. Hosier’s execution is the second to be scheduled in Missouri for 2024. Missouri executed four people in 2023.

The Catholic Church is strongly opposed to the death penalty because it disregards the sanctity and dignity of human life. If you would like to contact Governor Parson regarding Mr. Hosier’s execution, you can reach his office via phone at (573) 751-3222 or email him here.
