Missouri Schedules Fourth Execution of 2024

August 16, 2024

On August 13th, the Missouri Supreme Court ordered the execution of Christopher Collings to occur at 6 pm on December 3rd, 2024. Collings was convicted for the November 3rd, 2007 assault and murder of nine-year-old Rowan Ford in Stella, MO.

Collings filed appeals of his conviction but was denied. The Missouri Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court reviewed Collings’ case but found no legal errors. Collings’ execution is the fourth to be scheduled in Missouri for 2024, matching the pace of executions set by the state in 2023.

The Catholic Church is strongly opposed to the death penalty because it disregards the sanctity and dignity of human life. If you would like to contact Governor Parson regarding Mr. Collings’ execution, you can reach his office via phone at (573)751-3222 or email him here.
