Hurricane Milton Damages Numerous Florida Parishes and Ministry Facilities

The Diocese of St. Petersburg and the Diocese of Venice suffered significant damage as a result of Hurricane Milton, according to an article on Catholic News Agency.

Catholic Charities Diocese of Venice has established points of distribution in areas of greatest need and will distribute water, ice, and food. The diocese has encouraged those interested in volunteering to assist to visit the CCDV website.

The Diocese of St. Petersburg Pastoral Center offices will be closed “until it is safe to reopen.” The building, which currently lacks power and utilities, sustained damage and high winds shattered windows. The areas surrounding the pastoral center suffered damage due to flooding, trees down, and property damage. Schools in the diocese will remain closed until at least Monday, October 14.

The diocese also reported that a number of parishes and pregnancy aid centers suffered damage. The St. Petersburg Diocese encouraged people of goodwill to donate to its disaster relief fund. You can read more on Catholic News Agency here.
