The Missouri House this week finished its work on an almost $48 billion budget plan to fund state operations in the next fiscal year. The plan appropriates nearly $2.1 billion less than Gov. Mike Kehoe recommended in his budget proposal, including $800 million less in state general revenue.
However, two priorities of Gov. Kehoe that are of interest to the MCC were included in the proposal. The House budget increases the state’s Alternatives to Abortion program by over $4 million in 2026. In addition, the House retained the governor’s recommendation to provide $50 million for the state’s school-choice scholarship program, MOScholars.
The budget bills now head to the Senate, where that chamber is expected to restore some of the cuts made in the House.
