House Passes Bill to Promote Fathership and Support Fathers

April 14, 2025

On Thursday, the Missouri House of Representatives greenlighted a bill to promote fatherhood and empower men to become successful fathers.

HB 927, sponsored by Rep. Jamie Gragg (R-Ozark), would create the “Missouri Fathership Project” to provide resources for fathers, including grant funding for program specialists to support Missouri fathers who want to reestablish and strengthen their relationship with their children, helping them navigate the system towards reunification. The bill would also designate the month of June as “Fathership Month” in Missouri to raise awareness about the importance of fathers being present in their children’s lives.

HB 927 passed by a vote of 135-11, receiving bipartisan backing, and will now go to the Senate for consideration. The Missouri Catholic Conference (MCC) supports this bill.
