The House Committee on Children and Families voted “Do Pass” on HB 236. The bill, authored by Representative Sherri Gallick (R – Belton), would establish civil liability and penalty to internet pornography companies that allow minors to access their content. When presenting the bill, Rep. Gallick stated that although it is illegal to provide minors with pornographic material, internet pornography companies are currently able to circumvent the ban without penalty.
The Missouri Catholic Conference joined many other witnesses at the hearing giving testimony in favor of the bill. The bill now goes to the House for further debate.
