Yosemite: A National Treasure

One of the crown jewels of the National Park System is Yosemite National Park in California.  Home to the Mariposa Grove of giant sequoias, the largest living things on the planet (some 1,800 years old), and Yosemite Valley, boasting El Capitan and half dome, Yosemite is majestic and wonderful. The valley also is home to the highest waterfall in the U.S. and has become a favorite place for climbers.  In 2017, free climber Alex Honnold became the first human to free climb El Capitan, ascending the sheer granite cliff without ropes!  His ascent is documented in the film "Free Solo.
