World Day Against the Death Penalty Held on October 10

World Day Against Death Penalty

World Day Against the Death Penalty is a day to advocate for the abolition of the death penalty and to raise awareness of conditions and circumstances which affect prisoners living with a death sentence. It was first organized in 2003 and takes place annually on October 10. In this roundtable discussion, Archbishop Paul Coakley of Oklahoma City, Archbishop Wilton Gregory of Washington D.C. and Bishop Frank Dewane of Venice, Florida discuss ways of uplifting the Catholic call for an end to the death penalty.
