USCCB's Roe v. Wade Anniversary Statement Asks Faithful to Serve Moms in Need

Mom And Baby
January 22 marked the National Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children, remembering the 47th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. As part of the day of prayer and remembrance, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' (USCCB) Committee on Pro-Life Activities Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann issued a statement asking Catholics to continue to assist those women facing pregnancies in challenging circumstances.

"As the Church and growing numbers of pro-life Americans continue to advocate for women and children in courthouses and legislatures, the Church's pastoral response is focused on the needs of women facing challenging circumstances." As part of this effort, Archbishop Naumann announced that the USCCB Committee on Pro-Life Activities was asking bishops to invite their parishes to join a nationwide movement called "Walking with Moms in Need: A Year of Service". Running from March 25, 2020 through March 25, 2021, the program invites parishes to "assess, communicate and expand resources to expectant mothers within their own communities."

More information about Walking with Moms in Need can be found here.

The full statement from Archbishop Naumann can be found on the USCCB website.
