A Small Hero of the Australian Wildfires


As blazes continue to burn through Australia, millions of animals have lost their habitats or perished in the fires. But some lucky ones have found shelter with another species: the wombat. Wombats make their homes in large underground burrows, and it's reported that during these devastating fires, other species have been seen taking refuge in the burrows to escape the blaze. Though the wombats themselves are not actively shepherding these animals in (as some outlets have falsely reported), they're not kicking them out either; a kind gesture shown in the animal kingdom. Click here to learn more about this story.
