Planned Parenthood officials recently announced plans for a mobile abortion clinic that will provide abortions for women in states where the procedure has been banned. The “clinic” – a 37-foot RV – will be stationed in Illinois, but will travel to the borders of adjoining states that have banned abortions after the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
It is expected that one area of focus will be the Illinois side of the St. Louis region. Since June, Planned Parenthood’s Fairview Heights clinic has seen a 30% increase in abortion patients, including many women from Missouri. Planned Parenthood officials say the mobile clinic should be operational by the end of the year and will travel to the borders of southeastern Missouri, western Kentucky, and northeastern Tennessee.
