Missouri Supreme Court Sets Execution Date

Jail

The Missouri Supreme Court has set November 29, 2022, as the execution date for Kevin Johnson, who killed Kirkwood Police Sgt. William McEntee 17 years ago. Officials said Johnson, who was 19 years old, ambushed McEntee, who was responding to a neighborhood disturbance, because he felt police officers hadn’t done enough to help when his brother collapsed and died of a congenital heart condition earlier that day. Johnson had two murder trials; the first ending in a hung jury. Missouri has already carried out one execution this year.
