Missouri Senate Passes Congressional Map

The Missouri Senate this week reached a compromise on a congressional map which sets the boundary lines for the districts from which Missouri’s Congressional delegation will be elected. The map breaks Missouri into eight districts and will presumably result in Missouri sending six Republicans and two Democrats to Congress for the foreseeable future. Debate on the map began late Wednesday night and ended Thursday morning after an overnight pause in the action to allow Senators to continue negotiating. The agreed-upon map must now be approved by the Missouri House, which had sent the Senate a different map in January. Once approved by the House, the map must be agreed upon by the governor. The filing deadline for those seeking a seat in the U.S. House in the November election is Tuesday, March 29th.  The map agreed upon by the Senate can be found here.
