The first member of the Missouri General Assembly has tested positive for COVID-19. Representative Joe Runions (D-Grandview) tested positive for the virus last Friday, according to a joint statement by House leadership. Runions, 79, was hospitalized for what was believed to be pneumonia, but what ultimately was diagnosed as the coronavirus.
Runions released a statement this week saying that though he is getting better, he will have a long recovery. In a letter to Governor Parson, Runions shared his experience living with COVID-19 and his concerns that hospitals will soon run out of the supplies they need. He urged the governor to "do all in his power to send the necessary supplies to our hospitals as quickly as possible." The MCC asks everyone to continue to pray for the swift and full recovery of Rep. Runions and for all of those affected by this pandemic.
