Missouri Increases Minimum Wage

The start of the New Year saw Missouri join 19 other states in increasing the minimum wage. The new rate will be $10.30/hour, an increase of 85 cents per hour. Thanks to the passage of Proposition B in 2018, Missouri is on a five-year plan to increase the minimum wage 85 cents an hour until the state reaches $12 an hour in 2023. Some states (California, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, and New Jersey) are incrementally raising their minimum wage throughout 2021 until reaching $15 per hour. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) the current federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour, but the FLSA doesn't supersede any state or local law that is more favorable to employees.
