Missouri House Passes Budget for Capitol Renovations

MO Capitol

This week, the Missouri House passed HB 18, sponsored by Rep. Cody Smith (R-Carthage)which includes funding for the ongoing renovations of the Missouri state capitol building. The building that houses the state legislature is undergoing phase II of an extended makeover that won't be completed until late 2020. Sections of the exterior of the building that were previously wrapped in scaffolding and construction fabric, which allow contractors to complete their work free of interference from the elements, have recently been exposed again as they complete their work. A website dedicated to the project explains the history of the renovations and more. HB 18 now heads to the Senate for further consideration. It is not expected to face opposition because it includes funding for the maintenance of other state facilities.
