A Missouri appeals court sided with the Department of Corrections (DOC) employees in a suit regarding overtime pay. Last year, a jury decided that thousands of current and former employees were owed nearly $114 million for pre- and post-shift work. The state appealed the ruling, but on Tuesday the Western District Appeals Court sided with the employees. Originally filed in 2012, the plaintiffs argued they were not compensated for work required immediately before or after a shift, even though they were expected to be on the premises to prevent violence or escape attempts. The plaintiffs are also asking for a policy change along with the compensation.
