KC Chiefs Fans See Good Omen in Sunday's Blood Moon

Kansas City Chiefs fans are looking to the sky for good luck in the AFC Championship Game Sunday between the Chiefs and the Patriots. On Sunday night there will be a "super wolf blood moon" which can be viewed shortly after the game ends. A "blood" moon is a total lunar eclipse in which the moon appears rusty or blood-like because of sunlight being refracted through the Earth's atmosphere. The moon will become fully tinted with the red-orange color of sunset and appear bigger than normal. It's known as a "wolf" moon because, according to legend, in midwinter wolf packs howled hungrily outside Indian villages, thus it became the name for January's full moon.
Though it's coincidental that KC Wolf, the Chiefs mascot, shares its name with this big, red moon, it could also be a good omen. Let's hope so, at least!
