Harry Truman Statue to be Installed in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda

Truman Statue

A bronze statue of President Harry Truman will be unveiled and dedicated in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda on September 29. The 33rd president, and Missouri native, will be the 10th presidential statue installed in the Capitol Rotunda. The Truman Library Institute raised more than $400,000 to commission and install the statue in the National Statuary Hall Collection.

“The world needs to know about this man from Missouri who did so much for this country and whose name must be placed among those who've done the most for racial equality in America,” said Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, who represents Missouri’s 5th congressional district - the district of Harry Truman’s hometown of Independence.

A livestream of the event at 2 p.m. on Sept. 29 will be available here.
