Governor Parson Grants Additional Pardons

Gov Parson Press Briefing

Governor Parson recently issued 17 pardons and approved one commutation pursuant to Article IV, section 7 of the Constitution of the State of Missouri. The governor had previously issued 39 pardons and three commutations in February and December, citing his belief in clemency for those individuals who demonstrated a changed lifestyle and a desire to move on from past behaviors. The announcement is part of Parson's effort to reduce the backlog of thousands of clemency requests he inherited when he became governor in 2018. At last report, there were approximately 3,250 pending clemency applications.
