Governor Parson Appoints Treasurer Eric Schmitt to AG Post

This week, Governor Mike Parson appointed former state senator and current Missouri Treasurer Eric Schmitt to the position of state Attorney General. Schmitt will take over for Josh Hawley, who will join Sen. Roy Blunt as one of Missouri's two U.S. Senators. Parson and Schmitt previously served together in the Missouri Senate, where Schmitt served from 2008 to 2016, when he termed out. He was sworn in as state Treasurer in January 2017 after being elected to the post in November of 2016. Schmitt is a graduate of De Smet Jesuit High School, Truman State University (BA) and St. Louis University (JD).
