Final Week to Pass HB 126

With one week to go in the legislative session, there is still time to pass HB 126, sponsored byRep. Nick Schroer (R-O'Fallon), also known as the "Missouri Stands for the Unborn Act". This comprehensive bill contains numerous pro-life protections, including a ban on abortions at eight weeks and a trigger ban outlawing abortion in Missouri if Roe v. Wade is overturned.

Though the Senate has still not taken up HB 126, it did spend over three hours this week debating SB 279, sponsored by Sen. Bob Onder (R-Lake St. Louis), which includes many similar pro-life provisions. Although the Senate did not vote on SB 279, it allowed legislators to begin debate on many of the issues that will be discussed when HB 126 is ultimately brought up next week.

Last week, the MCC sent an Action Alert to members of our network, encouraging them to contact their Senator, asking him or her to take up and pass HB 126. Thank you to those who have already responded. If you have yet to respond, there is still time to contact your Senator and let him or her know that you stand for life.

The MCC has supported HB 126 throughout the legislative process and needs your help to get the bill truly agreed and finally passed.
