The season of Lent is one of reflection, of deep thought and connection with our Church. As we prepare for Easter Vigil, it is encouraging to see others reflect on their own beliefs, and draw closer to the Catholic faith. Last year, thousands of new Catholics were welcomed into the church, and thousands more will officially join the faith this year. The story of one Maryland family who will receive the sacraments of initiation and become Catholic at the April 20 Easter Vigil is inspiring in many ways. Alvaro de Vicente, the headmaster at the Catholic school where the children attend, says this about the family's story: "The inspiring thing about their journey ... it's an affirmation of the beauty of the faith that's always been in my life, but that I can so easily take for granted," he explained. "It's humbling and beautiful to see them come into the church." Read more about this family's journey in this Catholic News Service article.
The Missouri Catholic Conference office will be closed noon Thursday through Monday. We wish you all a blessed Easter!
