Department of Justice Sued for Withholding Information on Recent Church Attacks

Cross

A coalition of conservative organizations have filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Justice in order to obtain documents related to the recent increase in attacks on Churches and pregnancy resource centers. Since the May 2022 leak of the Dobbs v. Jackson Supreme Court verdict, which overturned the abortion protections of Roe v. Wade, over 100 attacks have occurred on Christian Churches and pro-life pregnancy resource centers. Despite the surge in attacks on these institutions, the DOJ has failed to prosecute virtually every one of these cases, citing a lack of evidence available to prosecute. Conservative groups seeking answers from the Department have made a Freedom of Information request from the DOJ; however, no documents related to the federal investigation of these crimes have been delivered. As a result, the Heritage Foundation has spearheaded a lawsuit against the DOJ, seeking injunctive relief through the delivery of the DOJ’s documents on the attacks.
