Congress Passes Fourth COVID-19 Relief Bill

Congress passed a fourth COVID-19 relief bill this week. This bill increases funding for the small business paycheck protection program that had run out of money, and provides additional funding for hospitals that have suffered big losses due to the coronavirus pandemic. Congress returns to Washington the week of May 4th and is expected to focus on another relief bill to address state and local government revenue shortfalls. With many people out of work and retail stores closed, state and local governments have seen huge decreases in sales tax revenue, on which they rely for their operating budgets.
