Catholic Charities Welcomes First Afghan Refugee to Central Missouri

Catholic Charities First Afghan Refugee

Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri (CCCNMO) welcomed its first refugee from Afghanistan, a single man, to Central Missouri this week. Dan Lester, Executive Director of CCCNMO, reported that the man is here, he is safe, and he is adjusting to his new life in the U.S. Lester reported that he expects more refugees from Afghanistan to begin arriving over the next few months, along with refugees fleeing persecution and violence abroad from other countries as well.

As part of this year's Virtual MCC Annual Assembly, MCC Executive Director Tyler McClay interviewed Lester, along with Samantha Moog, CCCNMO's Executive Director of Refugee Resettlement, about their ministry in one of the six MCC From the Capitol podcast episodes recorded for the virtual event.
