Governor Mike Parson has appointed Andrew Bailey as the next Attorney General of the State of Missouri. Bailey is one of Parson’s top advisors, currently serving as Parson’s General Counsel. He is a veteran of the United States Army and a graduate of the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Law. Bailey joined the governor’s office as deputy general counsel in 2019 and has served as General Counsel since 2021. He has also served as a Missouri Assistant Attorney General, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Warren County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and General Counsel for the Missouri Department of Corrections. He and his wife have four children and are also foster parents.
This is the second time Governor Parson has appointed a new attorney general. Eric Schmitt was appointed to replace now U.S. Senator Josh Hawley. Schmitt was elected to the U.S. Senate in November. Bailey will be sworn into office in January and said he plans to seek re-election in 2024.
