Abortion Clinics See Increased Demand During Pandemic

Pro Life Gen

As economic and health fears over COVID-19 continue to spread, some abortion providers are claiming that more women are now seeking abortions. The Associated Press recently interviewed staffers at abortion clinics that have remained open during the pandemic. The responses indicate that more women are now going through with their abortions. A staffer from the Hope Clinic abortion facility in Granite City, Illinois, stated that normally 50% of women who seek an abortion ultimately go through with it. During the pandemic, they report the rate is closer to 85%. Many pro-abortion advocates are also pushing women toward do-it-yourself medical abortions at home.

As we reported in a previous edition of MCC Weekly Update, abortions in Missouri have virtually halted this year. However, this report is a reminder that we must continue to support mothers in need, especially during this time of fear and uncertainty. The USCCB has developed "Walking with Moms in Need: A Year of Service", to help parishes provide resources to mothers and families in need. More information on this program can be found on the USCCB website. We must also continue to support our local pregnancy resource centers during this time, to the extent we are able. Most importantly, we must also continue to pray for these mothers and families, that they have the support they need to choose life, even during these difficult times.
