This week, the Missouri Bishops joined the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in encouraging the U.S. Senate to pass the Child Tax Credit.
The letter states, in part, “The Child Tax Credit is an important tool to help children and families in our state. As child poverty soars and families struggle with the rising cost of raising children, the Child Tax Credit aids families in paying for basic necessities like safe and stable housing, nutritious food, and reliable childcare. We commend lawmakers on both sides of the aisle for their commitment to improving the credit over the years and encourage you to move forward quickly with the House-passed Child Tax Credit. Although this provision represents a compromise, and more should be done in the future to craft the best possible Child Tax Credit for families, this agreement makes meaningful progress toward a credit that helps families thrive.”
